Good Food Ireland will provide the first ever all island restaurant food experience at any agri event in Ireland when it chefs and food producers will come together in an alfresco feast for the senses at the Golden Shears World Sheep Shearing Championships in Gorey, Co Wexford from May 22nd –May 25th. Some 10,000 international visitors from almost 30 countries will attend this Olympics of Sheep Shearing making it the biggest global population of countries ever at the event.
The Good Food Ireland Village will see Chefs from the four corners of Ireland, including Irish TV Chefs and Authors Darina Allen,Martin Shanahan, Derry Clarke and Evan Doyle, Michelin starred Chefs like Cormac Rowe of Mount Juliet and JP McMahon owner of Michelin starred Aniar Restaurant in Galway, work alongside one another in the state of the art Bosch Kitchen Theatre. There will be live cook offs between Chefs, World Sheep Shearing Champions and Irish government Ministers – which will amount to huge fun and healthy cookery rivalry. Bringing the whole cultural experience together for visitors, RTE’s Ella McSweeney, Suzanne Campbell andDarragh McCullough, with IFJ’s Mairead Lavery will be the acting MC’s delivering the link between Ireland’s farming and food heritage.

On the Menu at The Good Food Ireland Village, the Waterford Blaa and Slaney Valley New Season Lamb will form a strong South East regional gourmet slant. Kelly’s Resort Hotel will give it traditional treatment in a gorgeous Irish lamb stew, Ballymaloe House will chargrill succulent lamb burgers, while Ananda Restaurant Dublin will slow cook new season Lamb for 18 hours, in a special mix of spices.Harte’s Bar and Grill Kildare and sister premises Ashton’s Gastro Pub Dublin, will showcase the Blaa with Organic Chicken. Irish Piemontese Beef producers in Tipperary serve the Blaa with their delicious beef steaks. Other regional specialities include Country Choice’s Hereford Beef from Tipperary. Ed Cooney of The Merrion Hotel Dublin will cook Fresh Irish Fish and Chips seasoned with Malt Vinegar and Oriel Sea Salt produced from the waters off Clogher Head on the East Coast. Fresh Wexford Strawberries and Glastry Farm Ice cream from Co Down make superb desserts. The Craft Beer and Cider bar will have Irish craft brews. Coffee lovers will enjoy the range at the Barista Bar. The Good Food Ireland Village is the epitome of great Irish food.
