A Christmas Festive Chutney

225g of cooking apples diced
1 medium onion finely chopped
250 mixed dried fruit - sultanas, apricots, cranberries, dates, raisins etc.
1 tbsp mixed spice
75ml cider vinegar
175g muscovado sugar
1 can of cider


Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer for 40-50 minutes stirring occasionally until the liquid has almost evaporated and chutney has thickened.
Place in sterilized jars and allow to mature for a few weeks.
Keeps for up to 1 year.
