Our Review of The Lord Mayors Lounge at The Shelbourne Hotel

Elegance and history combines at The Lord Mayor's Lounge in Dublin's Shelbourne Hotel. This beautifully appointed room with its drape decorated windows and period furnishings, is the place of celebration for all of Dublin's Lord Mayors. Here they come after their inauguration, to take the legendary Afternoon Tea, an iconic tradition in Dublin's landmark hotel. The Mayors only have to take a short walk from the Mayoral Residence at Mansion House, to hit the comforts of five star luxury. But you don't have to be a Mayor to enjoy them.

Famous faces from home and abroad are often to be seen here, taking tea with regular Dubliners that have made this a favourite spot. Interior design is thoughtful, carefully considered to represent the long history of this important building. Indulge in the glorious menu of finger sandwiches and savouries,  home made buttermilk scones with Clotted Cream and Shelbourne Strawberry Jam, and delicate desserts and pastries. Sip one of a range of  21 exquisite loose leaf teas from the best tea producing areas of the world. Push the boat out totally with a Champagne Afternoon Tea, if you so wish.

Nothing tastes nicer with this classy array of itsy bitsy goodies than a glass of bubbles! Presentation is stunning, with tiered cake stands and bone china cups and saucers. This is good living at it's finest, in central Dublin city.
