Our Review of The River Club at The River Lee

Enjoy some of Cork's best locally sourced food under the more than capable hands Paul Lane, the Executive Head Chef of The River Lee. A native of Rylane, Co Cork, from a farming family, Paul has a passion for the culinary arts and particularly enjoys working with local food suppliers which are thankfully in abundance. He has previously worked in the past with many of the well known establishments favoured by Cork natives including The Fota Collection where he was head chef along with The Castle Hotel in Macroom and Flemings restaurant. Paul also spent some time in Sydney Australia and enjoyed the manner in which the freshest of ingredients, particularly fish were served in a simple and tasty manner. His food hero was his mother who was a dab hand at providing a home cooked meal for two or twenty depending on the day of the week.

Paul bringing his wealth of culinary experience and love of all produce Cork right back full circle. He loves nothing more than dealing with his suppliers directly. This gives him the edge on devising seasonal menus that feature the very best of what’s available day to day. The River Club and its Grill Room is the platform for evening dinner a la Paul. A contemporary, open plan, light filled space, with access to its own outdoor boardwalk terrace over the river outside.

Some famous Cork names pepper the A la Carte menu. Including an English Market Tasting Board to share and Ballycotton fresh fish and shellfish, along with Toons Bridge Mozzarella. Firm commitment to Cork produce is highlighted and proudly flagged throughout. Service from international staff is impeccable. The evening just glides by in the most relaxing and style filled way.

The weekends offer lunch and brunch options for residents and visitors to Cork City, The Eggs Benedict is a firm favourite with diners while an Organic Salmon with Holldandaise Sauce or a Flame Grilled Angus Beef Burger are just the things to satisfy you after a busy morning of discovering Cork City's shops. 

Plenty to choose from in wines – house wines and sparklers by glass or bottle, half bottles, Old and New World bottles, and a neat little dessert wine for pudding.  An impressive drinks list of home and international beers, glam cocktails and world class spirits, from Irish Whiskies to Scotch, Gins, Vodkas, Bourbons, Cognacs and Rum. Start with a smart cocktail or aperitif if you wish. Finish with a fine port with all that gorgeous cheese. Whatever your penchant, here it is  - in one of Cork’s top dining spaces.  

The Terrace is a great spot to enjoy some fine local meats off the coals for a private or corporate party.
