Ristorante Rinuccini is an award winning family run restaurant that has been wowing locals and visitors alike in the historic Kilkenny city for many years. Founded by Antonio and Marion Cavaliere, this Italian eatery firmly puts food and family at its heart. Both Antonio and Marion are passionate about the cuisine of Antonio's homeland and sourcing the best local and Irish ingredients. This passion they have shared with their son Riccardo and his wife Orla who continue this strong family tradition.

Our Review of Ristorante Rinuccini

Ristorante Rinuccini is located on the Parade, directly across from the city's iconic castle.What a spot to find an authentic Italian food experience using the best of Irish produce. Trot down the steps and into little Italy in Ireland. The dining room has the same feel of a formal restaurant in Italy. Staff are courteous and conscientious. Suited and booted to match the ambiance. You'll be welcomed and seated with a style only the Italians know how to master. Opera emanates discreetly from the music system. Snippets of Italian conversation and fragrant smells of cooking waft from the kitchen. You know you're in for a treat.

The restaurant is owned by the Cavaliere family for almost a quarter of a century. Chef Proprietor Antonio Cavaliere says ' Being from Lazio, I strive to produce classic Italian cuisine using the best of Irish and local ingredients. Sourcing and quality is of the utmost importance to us and has been one of the key factors in our years of success.' No truer words spoken there. Every plate is a delight. Every mouthful sublime. 

Antonio's wife is also on hand at the restaurant, assisting in front of house duties. The couple's son Riccardo, who grew up in Ireland, was reared with a love for his ancestral Italian homeland. Father and son have worked together at the restaurant, to keep the cooking of their home country firmly planted in Ireland's local food landscape and artisan production. This is the way Antonio grew up, learning to cook with the ingredients of his region. Olive oils, Italian charcuterie and cheese, and wines are sourced from selected suppliers and artisan producers in Italy. All fresh fish, meat and seasonal vegetables come from Ireland. Rinuccini provides the perfect marriage between Italian cuisine and fresh Irish produce.

A traditionally presented menu offers some familiar Italian dishes plus some new twists. Seafood is a regular feature - sourced from the Wexford coast. Pastas are superb. Favourite desserts like Tiramisu and Panna Cotta will woo! 

The direct importing of wines from special vineyards in Italy means a stunning and extremely interesting selection on the wine list. Reds are decanted to allow for breathing and flavours to develop. It's all very proper and we love it. So do the customers who come here regularly. From ladies who lunch, to local business people, and of course, the many visitors to historic Kilkenny who are only too happy to stumble upon this restaurant found in the town centre. It's a busy spot. Summer means a huge demand for the two pretty tables under the glass awning outside the restaurant. Bedecked with linen and sparkling glassware, they give a taste of what's to come when you push open the restaurant door. We're sure you'll enjoy.
