ON THE PIG’S BACK

When Isabelle Sheridan set up her famous stall in the English Market in Cork, she did it because she missed the taste of her home in France. Her homemade pates were created from recipes handed down in her family. French Cheeses and charcuterie were the ones she loved to eat herself. As time moved on and the Irish artisan scene grew, this genius lady provided a much needed platform for Irish farmhouse cheeses and speciality cured products. Her  flagship English Market stall was sought out by food lovers who wanted the best of the best. Years later, the small space on the stall demanded the opening of a sister premises in the suburbs of Cork city. On The Pig’s Back Café and Food Shop was born – carrying the same ethos underlined by Isabelle from day one. So now the people of Cork can enjoy the Sheridan trademark casual dining and gourmet shopping experience outside the city. That’s why On the Pig’s Back in Douglas  is our Highly Commended Food Shop of the Year for 2012.
