Luca Mazza is a talented chef with a big reputation. His partnership with Michael Martin at Pacino’s Restaurant in Suffolk Street in central Dublin, has produced the perfect marriage of authentic Italian cooking using quality Irish core ingredients and artisan specialities. Luca is part of a new wave of chefs who are choosing Irish to create the foods of their homeland. Of course, being Italian, Luca is a passionate man in the kitchen! He creates real Italian food like Mamma used to make. Michael works front of house, managing a knowledgeable team who serve up the best in Italian first courses, mains, famous pasta dishes and proper stone baked pizzas.
Afterwards - the desserts Italians so love to indulge in! Pacino’s is a busy daytime spot for local workers and shoppers. The restaurant takes on an intimate ambience in the evenings. Low lights and rustic furnishings are a great platform for the plates of hearty Italian cuisine Luca and his team of chefs concoct in the kitchen. He’s loving the cheeses, charcuterie and meats that come from Ireland’s artisan producers. Toonsbridge Mozzarella, Jack McCarthy’s Pancetta, and Irish Piemontese Beef all make an appearance on his menus. Italian San Marzano plum tomatoes (some say the best tomatoes in the world!) from a grower in Rush, Co.Dublin, are specially sourced. You’ll see all these and more Irish producer names peppering the menus at Pacino’s.
Peruse the list of classic pastas and pizzas for a quick lunch or pre-theatre dinner. Pizza doughs, breads and rich tomato sauces are made fresh daily. Pay utmost attention to the meat main courses and house specials which feature Irish free range chicken, rare breed pork, lamb and seafood. This is a fine place to spend an evening. The casual ambience is a true representation of how the Italians like to eat – taking time to enjoy superb food, great wine and good company. Italy features big on the wine list, naturally so. But there’s a good mix of wines from other parts of the Old World and some New World choices also. Start things off with a cocktail from the Apertifs list, or a glass of Prosecco.
Red wines are respected and revered, decanted into a glass decanter before serving. Pacino’s Cellar Bar downstairs is available for private hire. An atmospheric self contained space with stone walls and arched ceilings, it’s own bar, and separate rear access if required for privacy and discretion. Personal and corporate social events and celebrations are welcomed. Luca and Michael also host special themed food and wine evenings at the Cellar Bar from time to time.
