Step inside the front door of Mount Juliet House and step into history. This magnificent country house hotel stands on 1500 acres either side of the River Nore. The 1st Earl of Carrick built the mansion in 1757. He named the house after his wife Juliana, fondly known as Juliet. A succession of Earls of Carrick lived here until 1914. The McCalmont family took residence until the late 80's. In 1989, Mount Juliet Estate opened as a refined and traditional hotel welcoming home and international guests. Grounds provide a world class professional standard golf course, walking areas, river and lake fishing, home to the hounds of the Kilkenny Hunt, and Ballylinch Stud and Stables, where many a thoroughbred winning racehorse has been sired and born. Aristocracy is in the stone and mortar of this grand house. Original features abound, carefully looked after and renovated. The large entrance hall and sweeping staircase greeted all the Earls and McCalmonts during their residence. Ornate cornicing, intricate stucco plasterwork and period furnishings in all public rooms showcase their grandeur. Still for all its blue blooded heritage, this hotel still feels like a real family home.
Service is discreet and friendly. The 32 bedrooms including two Presidential suites are gloriously comfortable with generous brocade drapes at the large Georgian windows, period furnishings, top quality linens and towels, spacious en suite facilities, tv and radio.
Currently under renovation Hunter's Yard will offer 93 bedrooms with conference and banquet facilities for up to 210 guests, near to the Mount Juliet Clubhouse. Rose Garden Lodges offer 7 spacious self-contained country style self catering suites House residents enjoy breakfast in the Lady Helen Restaurant and adjoining Parlour.
