The Lady Helen Restaurant

Candles, crisp linen, shining silver and gleaming glassware set the scene for the theatrical gourmet experience to come. Ken Harker knows how to put on a show. Take your seat among these opulent surroundings and let the performance begin. Start with a glass of bubbles. Browse a menu featuring the best of local and seasonal foods. We can’t tell you what to choose, but we can say it will be wonderful. The best of Irish is in focus – Black Angus beef from Monaghan. Seasonal game. Wexford fish and shellfish. Home grown herbs and salads from the estate gardens.
Restaurant Hunters Yard

The Hound at Hunters Yard

'The Hound' at Hunters Yard offers a casual dining alternative to the fine dining gourmet experience in The Lady Helen Restaurant in the main house at Mount Juliet Estate. There’s a delightful airy feel to the interior décor of The Hound. Hefty ceiling beams in reclaimed wood echo an earlier life to lend a rustic look.

Our Review of Mount Juliet House at Mount Juliet Estate

Step inside the front door of Mount Juliet House and step into history. This magnificent country house hotel stands on 1500 acres either side of the River Nore. The 1st Earl of Carrick built the mansion in 1757. He named the house after his wife Juliana, fondly known as Juliet. A succession of Earls of Carrick lived here until 1914. The McCalmont family took residence until the late 80's. In 1989, Mount Juliet Estate opened as a refined and traditional hotel welcoming home and international guests. Grounds provide a world class professional standard golf course, walking areas, river and lake fishing, home to the hounds of the Kilkenny Hunt, and Ballylinch Stud and Stables, where many a thoroughbred winning racehorse has been sired and born. Aristocracy is in the stone and mortar of this grand house. Original features abound, carefully looked after and renovated. The large entrance hall and sweeping staircase greeted all the Earls and McCalmonts during their residence. Ornate cornicing, intricate stucco plasterwork and period furnishings in all public rooms showcase their grandeur. Still for all its blue blooded heritage, this hotel still feels like a real family home.

Service is discreet and friendly. The 32 bedrooms including two Presidential suites are gloriously comfortable with generous brocade drapes at the large Georgian windows, period furnishings, top quality linens and towels, spacious en suite facilities, tv and radio.

Currently under renovation Hunter's Yard will offer 93 bedrooms with conference and banquet facilities for up to 210 guests, near to the Mount Juliet Clubhouse.  Rose Garden Lodges offer 7 spacious self-contained country style self catering suites House residents enjoy breakfast in the Lady Helen Restaurant and adjoining Parlour.

As with all Good Food Ireland Culinary Accommodation, the first meal of the day is an event in itself. A full offering of cereals, home made breads and pastries is backed up with a cooked to order menu, which includes an impressive version of the hearty Full Irish – rashers, sausages, black and white puddings and eggs cooked any way you wish. An experienced Estate Host guides tours of the house and estate.  He knows the history inside out. See the stud, the hounds, fishing lakes, equestrian centre with full programme of showjumping, trail riding, cross country riding and tuition for guests. History buffs will enjoy the ruins of the estate’s little church, once the place of worship for the Earls. They are all buried here and their tombs are not to be missed. Swing a club on the pro golf course if you’re that way inclined. Enjoy fine food and wine, history and culture, a relaxing Spa, and plenty of healthy outdoor pursuits to keep you occupied.
