The bar at Hayfield Manor hotel in the university district of Cork city, is as cosy a spot as you'd ever hope to find. Despite it's five star status, there are no airs of pretension or snootiness in the ambience of this hotel and its facilities. From the moment you walk into the generous lobby with its sweeping staircase, you’ll feel very welcome indeed. Owners Joe and Margaret Scally, who also own the Killarney Royal, have made sure of that.Hayfield’s Balcony Bar is the place to sip a lunchtime pint or pre or post dinner drink. Very snug - it echoes the traditions of a real Irish pub, within the bounds of a top class hotel. A full bar service is here - plus wine if you so wish. There’s music too, sometimes provided by a mobile piano which is wheeled in as and when. That just echoes the real homely Irish charm about this hotel. You won’t find many other establishments of this calibre that are so laid back when it comes to keeping people happy. Wheeling in a piano is something that would happen in a typical Irish house when the mood is for a party. You just don’t expect it in this environment, but appropriately to the luxurious style here - the piano in question is a baby grand!
