Our Review of Lorge Chocolatier Workshops

There are plenty of fun activities to keep you happy if you visit the beautiful Kingdom of Kerry in the south west of Ireland. One such place that needs a visit is Master Chocolatier, Benoit Lorge and his chocolate shop and workshop, Lorge Chocolatier.

Located on the beautiful scenic drive between Kenmare and Glengarriff, Lorge Chocolatier is the perfect place to stop off if you're looking for a fun activity or to learn a new skill. Lorge Chocolatier sells chocolates made on site in a small kitchen behind the shop. Ben, originally from Lorraine in France, creates unique and individual chocolates. His creations are award winning and take inspiration from the beautiful Kerry countryside. Figurines, seasonal specialities and table decorations for special events are on sale. But it's the handmade individual chocolates and truffles, which attract the attention of many tourists and locals who come here to try their unusual and exotic flavours. And don't be worried about language barriers here, as they speak English, French and Spanish all to help you find your perfect selection.

While providing the public with his delicious chocolate creations, Benoit and his team also hold regular chocolate making workshops, only too happy to spread their love of all things chocolate. A wide range of groups are catered for, from family and children workshops to hen parties, you can discover the art of chocolate making in a relaxed and fun environment. Learn all about the history of chocolate before delving into dipping, moulding and making your own yummy chocolate creations.

Lorge Chocolatier also facilitate advanced classes, for those who would like to make a living out of chocolate making, or those who want to improve on the skills they already have.

Tom Durcan, craft butcher of over twenty five years experience, is a master of spiced beef. It has won him many honours. This fine Cork speciality is the underlining product at his butcher’s stall in the English market. Tom’s career began as a youngster, when he took a summer job in a butcher’s shop during school holidays. The experience proved invaluable. Working with an experienced butcher with his own slaughter house provided what Tom describes as a ‘fantastic education’ for the young novice in how to source animals, and the ground rules for good butchery.
