Stay at Clontarf Castle
How do you fancy cosying up with a drink, amid atmospheric and romantic castle surroundings of dramatic beamed ceilings and mullioned stained glass windows, as a grand fire blazes in the imposing stone fireplace? This you can do at Knight’s Bar in Clontarf Castle.
Knight’s is located in the original part of the old castle, which is a listed building. That means that all of the original features and character have been carefuly and lovingly kept, so you get to live like a King or Queen, being looked after by a wonderful team. Head of that team is Executive Chef Stephen Heeney, who presides over all the culinary aspects of Clontarf Castle’s dining facilities. Knight’s Bar is a great place to unwind with a drink or refreshments either during your stay at the castle, or with a group of friends if you’re in the area.
Alongside a full bar service, Knight’s also offers a gastro pub style menu. Manager Jason Ormston says ‘Knight’s Bar is loved by locals and business people alike. We often conduct whiskey tastings here in this atmospheric space. Foodwise, Stephen has designed a menu showcase for the gastro pub culinary experience at the castle. Good homemade burgers, fish and chips, well aged prime Irish sirloin steak and slow cooked pulled pork are typical menu choices. Emphasis is placed on provenance of ingredients and presentation, to give something unique in casual gastro pub dining.’
Knight’s also serves a traditional carvery lunch Sunday to Friday 12pm-3pm. All the old favourites are here, with their respective vegetable accompaniments. Knights serves food from midday to 9.30pm every day.
