Hickey's Bakery & Coffee Shop

Home / Place / Hickeys Bakery Coffee Shop

When Nuala Hickey walked into her family bakery business as a very young woman taking over the cooking and baking, she didn't really think she'd still be there twenty oddyears later. But that's nothing compared to how long the Hickey family has been in business here. Ownership spans four generations of Hickeys, running a proper bakery which still bakes proper bread, cakes and barn brack along with an array of other lovely things to be proud of. We just love it when we find this kind of establishment - and we are only to happy to welcome the owner into the happy Good Food Ireland fold.

Nuala is a vibrant lady at the helm here since those days she walked in to help her father out. Nowadays she is in full charge of the cafe and shop. Hickey's Bakery shop stocks all the traditional homebaking you'd want. And then some. Plus a range of home made deli items, sauces and dressings to boot. seasonal specialities are part of the scene too. And some say the freshly cut sandwiches to go are the best in town! Well when you start with great home baked bread, it can only go up from there! The cafe is part of the shop, and worth a visit if you have a little time to chill and enjoy one of the homemade specials or a sweet baked treat.
