Located on the banks of the river Corrib, The Heron’s Rest Boutique Accommodation is the ideal central waterside location to stay when you are visiting Galway City. Visitors to this lovely waterside boutique property will be awed by the peaceful scenic setting that overlooks Claddagh Harbour & Galway Bay. Look upon the swans as they meander in the harbour and be lulled by the iconic Galway hooker boats as they gently sway. Just what is needed to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing overnight experience, footsteps from the vibrant city centre. 

Sorcha Molloy, owner of The Heron’s Rest and her caring team have made an art out of welcoming and looking after guests. Each day they strive to welcome guests with the warmth of a home from home stay. The Heron's Rest has two accommodation offerings to suit your needs. Twin townhouses adjacent to each other include The Heron’s Rest Boutique Bed & Breakfast and next door The Heron’s Rest Boutique Townhouse, self-catering accommodation. In the self-catering Townhouse, breakfast is available on request and delivered fresh to your kitchen in the morning.   

Breakfast at, The Heron’s Rest is for many guests, the highlight of their stay. It is a delightful gourmet continental breakfast banquet. Breakfast features freshly baked breads, yogurts, local preserves and an impressive collection of local artisan food. The Heron's Rest is a great ambassador for the locality and delights in showcasing the very best of local artisan producers in the West. You will be impressed as you dine on locally cured meats, smoked seafood and Irish Farmhouse cheeses. Only the best of Irish ingredients are used with organic produce featuring prominently. Breakfast is served between 8.00am – 10.00am and can be enjoyed in the communal dining room or in your bedroom. For guests of the Townhouse it is available for delivery fresh each morning. 

The Heron’s Rest has unparalled views of Galway Bay and is also another highlight for guests. The bedrooms are designed to offer the optimum amount of comfort and luxury that brings together the best of a hotel stay but with the added enticing intimate feel of a boutique accommodation stay. Enjoy plush bedding and an orthopaedic mattress that will guarantee a relaxing and restful night’s sleep. Seep into comfort by taking advantage of the fluffy towels, robe and slippers provided. Each bedroom has fantastic sea views and ensuite facilities with complimentary natural toiletries to enjoy at leisure. We can’t think of anything better to help us enjoy a visit to Galway.

The Bed & Breakfast rooms are also decorated with small touches to add to that homey feel, whether it be a soft throw on the bed or a fluffy rug under your feet. Guests will be delighted to find a complimentary carafe of mineral water and port for a night cap. You are invited to sip and unwind as you take in the scenic views. Why not make use of the set of binoculars to get a better birds view. Each room has a special theme, tying it back to the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The Corrib Retreat Room looks out onto the Corrib River and Claddagh harbour on the second floor. The Burren Vista Room gives stunning views of Galway Bay and the harbour. The Galway Bay Panorama Room with its all-encompassing view is located on the top floor and has quite an impressive claim to fame. Fans of Ed Sheeran will be thrilled to know that the closing shots of his famous Galway Girl video featuring actress Saoirse Ronan and Ed Sheeran were filmed in this room. A must visit place for fans of this global superstar!

The Heron’s Rest has an enviable location, being just a short walk from the culturally vibrant area of Galway city centre but also a short drive away from some of the country’s most beautiful natural wonders. The Heron’s Rest team are a veritable fountain of local knowledge and will happily suggest great places to eat, shop and visit in the Galway area. For those exploring further afield, you can avail of an extra special treat, with a wonderful gourmet picnic basket to enjoy on your journey. These can be made up to suit your budget and your chosen location and contain weatherproof rugs and maps. Just the right gourmet companion to sustain you when you are visiting the nearby Aran Islands, Connemara region or The Burren.

When visiting The Heron’s Rest, you will quickly realise that it is more than just overnight accommodation, it is a joyful experience encompassing  tranquillity, comfort, warmth and delicious local food.
