Ghan House in Carlingford is known for its luxurious country house accommodatin and fine dining in the restaurant located in house's original drawing room. Joyce Carroll, owner of the house, established a reputation for the best in food here. She worked as Head Chef in her own kitchens at the house, and founded the Ghan House Cookery School in 1993.
Joyce is now semi retired from all the hard work, but her presence is still very influential in food terms. Son Paul Carroll is now host of this magnificent house, carrying on the family traditions of good Irish hospitality and comfort. A majestic room on the first floor of is dedicated to cookery classes and demonstrations.
Ghan House runs cookery demonstrations and food events specifically geared to groups of eight or more. Hen parties, corporate events and private occasions are celebrated in the most unique of styles, by learning the ethos of local, fresh and seasonal food that drives the house cuisine.
This majestic room has full demonstration facilites, also available for private parties and tastings. The most popular event at Ghan House is learning to cook a three course dinner, then sitting around the dining table in the demonstration room to enjoy what you've cooked. A cookery event plus a stay at the house, with dinner, is a wonderful opportunity to learn the value of fresh and seasonal and enjoy a bit of down time in a glorious family home.
