Dinner is a leisurely, elegant affair in grand surroundings with magnificent views. It is a wonderful backdrop to a menu that has such a sense of place about it.

Taking inspiration and ingredients from the local area the menu is a feast of superb shellfish from the lough such as oysters, mussels, cockles, winkles and lobster and meat from the mountains and nearby farms including Cooley lamb and Cooley beef reared on the slopes of the mountain and Mourne Mountain lamb and beef. Herbs and vegetables comes from the garden and the bread, stocks, ice creams and sauces are all made from scratch in the kitchen.

The is always a vegan starter, main and dessert alternative and the chefs will do their best to accommodate all dietary requirements.

Breakfast is also served in the Grand Drawing Room and it is a marvellous way to start your day. A central table holds a bounty of yogurts, cereals, juice and homemade breads and baked goods. Then there’s a cooked to order menu with a great variety of options, including the Ghan House Fry – a traditional Irish breakfast of local rashers, sausages, black and white pudding and eggs.

For a little sweet kick to finish, slather homemade preserves on the freshly baked scones. Breakfast at Ghan House is a satisfying and hearty kickstart to your day.
