Local Seasonal Irish Cusine at The Merrion

The Garden Room, The Merrion Hotel, Dublin

The Garden Room

A less formal affair in a relaxed formal garden setting can be savoured when dining in the beautiful surrounds of The Garden Room at The Merrion. An air of whimsy and airiness that surrounds the setting is reflected in the carefully constructed menu devised by Ed Cooney and his dedicated team. Ed's menu encourages the sharing of delightful flavours and tastes with your group of friends and family as you clink glasses in the Dublin sunshine.
Merrion Hotel The Cellar Bar Good Food Ireland

The Cellar Bar

The Cellar Bar in the 18th Century wine vaults, with its bare bricked walls and vaulted ceilings, is not only stunning but a great place to have a drink or a bite at lunchtime serving a casual gastro-pub menu. Great value to be had at lunch or dinner on the snack menu if you don't fancy a blow out in the main restaurant.
Merrion Hotel No.23 Good Food Ireland

The No.23 Bar

Upstairs in the Merrion, No. 23 is an intimate cocktail bar offering a range of signature cocktails perfect for an aperitif or an after dinner drink whilst catching up on news with friends. Enjoy a flute of champagne or sit back with a glass of wine from L'Abeille de Fieuzal, the chairman's own vineyard in Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux.

Stay in Sheer Bliss at The Merrion

Stay at The Merrion Hotel

Bedrooms are nothing short of perfect in every aspect. Decor echoes the period, and modern additions like flat screen television and wide desk compliment that. Add in the six-foot wide bed with rich quilt, monogrammed sheets and warm blankets and the delightful large white-tiled bathroom, and we think you'll agree these rooms are sheer bliss.

Our Review of The Garden Room at The Merrion Hotel

The Merrion Hotel in Dublin brings the kind of old fashioned service and comfort levels of yesteryear. From the moment you step into the lobby through the discreet front door of this sensitively restored and remodelled landmark Georgian building, you step into a coveted world where nothing is too much trouble and eveything is possible.

As one of our exemplary five star Culinary Accommodations, The Merrion offers an all round culinary experience, epitomised to the max at The Garden Room. Executive Chef Ed Cooney is fully committed to using Irish produce on his menus and spreading the Good Food Ireland message throughout. So much so, he is a previous winner of our Ambassador of the Year award - the top accolade for someone dedicated to seasonal and local produce and not afraid to step outside the box to showcase it.

So - be assured -  the gourmet experience at The Garden Room fully lives up to the grand surroundings in which it is enjoyed.

Prepare to enjoy wonderful fish dishes including Clare Island Organic Salmon with King Scallops, Grilled Black Sole or light Steamed Fillets of Plaice. Find melt-in-the-mouth Irish Fillet Steak, herbed Rack of Lamb and Loin of Kilkenny Veal - all Irish reared - as part of the selection of mains. Ed Cooney takes all these core ingredients and adds his unique twist in terms of taste and presentation. As for the desserts, they are are as well constructed and thought out as any of the mains- Ed Cooney's own recipe Merrion Apple Tarte Tatin often features, but whatever you choose, you won't find fault with it. A five star chef for a five star hotel.

Wine lists are composed with a gentile touch. The classics are all here, ready to be uncorked to match your choice of food. A pilgrimage to the heart of wining and dining is to be had in one of Dublin's legendary venues. Alongside devising an ever changing seasonal menu for the Cellar, Ed has also found time to develop a range of products for The Merrion Pantry range. We can't sing his praises high enough. And we'd put money on it that you'll do the same.
