Our Review of Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Resort

Make a booking today at Faithlegg House. What a history behind Faithlegg House. Buried deep in the heart of the quiet Waterford countryside, but very close to the sights and shopping in Waterford City, the house is built on the site of what was the seat of the Aylward Family for over 500 years. Through centuries, dispossession and financial pinch, the house passed from the Aylwards to the Boltons  then the Powers. This well established merchant family from Waterford City gave their family crest of Stag’s Head and Cross to the house, still proudly displayed over the grand main entrance to the hotel lobby area. Inside,  a magnificent Waterford Crystal Chandelier represents the age old skills of the legendary crystal craftsmen of the city. Several generations of Powers owned Faithlegg until 1935, when it was sold to the De La Salle order of teaching Brothers. It remained a religious teaching college until the 1980’s. When it became a hotel in the late 1990’s, emphasis was placed upon keeping and restoring original features - a living timeline which tracks it’s historical importance within this area.   Faithlegg is now one of a select small number of luxury hotels owned by Irish company FBD.

Bedrooms here range between the Classic rooms of a new wing built in keeping with the original house. These are compact and comfortably furnished in contemporary style, with fine linens and upholstery and state of the art bathrooms ensuite. In the original house,  Master Bedrooms offer more space and luxury – four posters or king size beds, antique furnishings and paintings,  plus views of the estate and surrounding countryside. All Master Bedrooms are named after key historical figures of the house. Two suites are spacious and opulent – a real treat for a special stay,  or of course, for the Bride and Groom on their wedding night.

Breakfast is a feast to savour in The Roseville Rooms - adjoining rooms with conservatory style dining space in the centre.  The large main dining room has magnificent bay windows with commanding views of gardens and beyond.  In the mornings, the centrepiece is a visually stunning breakfast buffet of local yogurt and seasonal fruit compotes, fresh juices, porridge from a famous Waterford oat company, cereals, house breads and scones, continental pastries and fresh fruits. Through the conservatory lies a Full Irish breakfast hot buffet. The cook to order table menu has lighter options. Service is hospitable and warm, a real Irish welcome at it’s heart. Long standing staff with connections to the house are part of the experience, lending a real feel of family hospitality to your stay.

In the evenings, The Roseville Rooms become a fine dining restaurant, with a menu of seasonal dishes created by Head Chef Jenny Flynn. Before dinner, enjoy an aperitif in the cosy bar area and Piano Lounge. A daytime menu plus Twilight Menu is also served here. Alongide superb accommodation, fine dining and private function and wedding facilities,  Faithlegg also incorporates Faithlegg Golf Course with self catering accommodation and Clubhouse, and Estuary Spa with treatment rooms, full cardio fitness equipment in a private gym area, and sculpted swimming pool.   A treat in store when you visit – a break for mind and body in every possible sense.

The Adelaide Blake Conference suite at Faithlegg house in County Waterford is named after the youngest daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Power, and her husband,  the then Mayor of Waterford John A. Blake. This room is designed for large conferences, private functions, and even Civil Wedding Ceremonies, for which the house has a licence. The room is big enough for wedding ceremonies with parties of 80 to 100 people,  according to seating and dining arrangements

This is the main function room at Faithlegg House in Co Waterford. Self contained and with it’s own terrace and steps leading to the garden and children’s play area, the conservatory style room makes a stunning location for a wedding. Tables are dressed in elegant style, with a menu created by Head Chef Jenny Flynn and her team, devised specially to the wedding party requirements. The Minaun Room can also be hired for black tie dinners and celebration dinner dances. The hidden secret of this room is the spacious polished wooden dance floor –  just roll back the thick pile carpet and boogie on down till the early hours! Large conferences can also be accommodated in The Minaun Room,  which has a built in wall projector and screens for formal presentations.   Check out Faithlegg House's Tapas Menu
