Our Review of Edward Harrigan & Sons

Founded in 1885, Edward Harrigan & Sons has long been a standout feature of the bustling Main Street of Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Harrigans is a charming mix of the traditional style Irish Pub with a more modern and spacious restaurant setting. It has developed over the years, evolving its dining offering to now being one of the leading Gastro Pubs in Newbridge and the wider Kildare area.

Harrigan's pride themselves on providing visitors with a warm welcome and excellent service and that is just what you get when entering its doors. Upon entering you'll be greeted with a very striking traditional bar set up, where it wouldn't be unusual to see bar staff shaking and stirring a range of tempting cocktails and beverages. The excellent beverage offering is an important part of the Harrigans experience. The selection of wines, spirits and beers is quite extensive, providing guests with choices from across the globe along with the latest Irish craft beers and spirits. Relax with a drink or two before dining and take in that the warm and inviting atmosphere that surrounds this pub and restaurant.

To the rear of the bar is the very comfortable and stylish restaurant area, diners have the option of eating in the restaurant or bar area. Wherever you choose to sit, this we promise is a dining experience that will not disappoint. Helpful servers will happily guide you through a menu that is full of choice. For starters, a traditional Black Pudding is served up with a poached free range egg and veggies. An enticing combination. Gastro Pub favourite dishes such as Fish & Chips and Harrigans own Beef Burger feature and are mouth-watering to taste. Meat lovers will be salivating with the choice of steak options, including sirloin, ribeye and fillet. Make the enjoyment of a steak dinner all the more exciting by asking for the Steak on a Stone option, here your steak will be cooked to your liking right in front of you.

International dishes such as a Thai Monk Fish Curry, a vegetarian Halloumi Moroccan Style Curry and a Prawn Pil Pil, will take you on a tour of world cuisines all created using the best Irish ingredients out there.

Your sweet tooth will be satisfied with a great dessert selection. Options include a Seasonal Fruit Crumble, Eton Mess and even a delicious Ice Cream Sundae.
