Our Review of Drumanilra Farm Kitchen Organic Farm Shop

Justina and Liam Gavin of Drumanilra Organic Farm, refer to their farm shop at the Drumanilra Farm Kitchen café as ‘our little farm shop’. A rather cute understatement for a place where organic farming, articulated sourcing of artisan specialities and acute attention to detail is at the heart of the retail offering.

Shoppers will find organic Dexter beef, organic free range Tamworth and Berkshire pork, and lamb from the farm’s organic Jacob and Shetland sheep.  Add to this, farm reared free range organic bronze turkeys, geese and ducks at Christmas and fresh eggs from the permanent flock of  organic free range laying hens, and you’ve a substantial fully traceable farm offering before you start .

Organic seasonal vegetables and mixed leaves salad bags in the shop are provided by the four organic polytunnels at Drumanilra Organic Farm. Extra fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables come from other organic growers. The kitchen at the café bakes sourdough, French bread and soda bread daily, plus an array of scones, brownies and cookies made with fresh free range eggs and real Irish butter, all available in the shop.

If you want to put together a cheeseboard or a platter of charcuterie, browse the deli counter for a superb selection of Irish farmhouse cheeses, Drumanilra home produced cooked and sliced dry cure ham, Inch House black pudding, and salamis from West Cork. Accompany those with Mediterranean specialities and various house salads made with home grown organic vegetables.
