Our Review of Burren Smokehouse Shop and Visitor Centre

The Visitor Centre at the Burren Smokehouse is a wonderful interactive experience for food lovers interested in how the great taste of smoked salmon comes to be. Discover how salmon from the sea is transformed into a delicacy with just salt and smoke. The team at the Burren Smokehouse believes that smoking the traditional way with real fire and smoke is an art and a craft that needs to be preserved. Add to this skill, the best raw material they can get, Irish Organic Salmon and Wild Irish Salmon from the west coast of Ireland and you will get a superior product which will spoil your taste buds.

Take a trip back into the Smokehouse's illustrious history with a look at the old but still functioning kiln which was used back in the day when the smokehouse first opened its doors. Run your hands through the saw dust and look in the smoke box to get a feel for the whole smoking process.

Everyone is made welcome, with the visitor centre seeing people from all over the world coming through their doors. Watch a short video about the smoking process (it's free and available in English, French, German, Swedish, Italian and Spanish). Afterwards, get taste of the Burren Smoked Organic Salmon and decide which one you prefer, the cold or the hot smoked variety.
