The Art Deco theme of the cocktail era perfectly fits Bellini’s Bar at Maryborough Hotel & Spa. Put on your tasselled frocks, tuxedos and strings of beads and you really wouldn’t be out of place! But you don’t have to go that far to enjoy a few drinks or some daytime refreshment in this lively hotel bar.
Cosy and intimate, the atmosphere at Bellini’s encourages conversation. So bring your best buddy for a day time treat and chew the fat over a plate of food from the daytime menu. Morning Selection includes scones, pastries and other more substantial light snacks. Moving on to lunch is when the sarnies come out, including a classic Steak Sandwich or snazzy warm Bruschetta served with Cork made mozzarella, tomato and basil. Old Mains Favourites go from Atlantic Haddock and Chips to the Maryborough Signature Burger, with pasta and oriental ideas also featuring.
The evening menu kicks in at 5pm and becomes more of a casual dining offering. Sandwiches are more substantial and experimental, served with a side of fries if you wish. Mains are eclectic and satisfying, with Old Favourites joined by a few unusual combos thrown in. Treacle Braised Short Ribs or the rustic Chickpea Salad with West Cork’s Gubbeen chorizo catch the eye.
For drinks , enjoy a cocktail or two, a glass of fizz, a full wine selection or the choice of finest teas and barista coffees.
The Garden Room at Maryborough Hotel & Spa looks over the 300 year old listed gardens. Here is a tranquil place to take Afternoon Tea, a meal which has become a social occasion in recent years. Maryborough has its own Afternoon Tea Butler, Patrick, there to answer every request and provide a dedicated top class service in this area. The ritual of Afternoon Tea was first begun by Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford in the 1800’s. Patrick upholds the gentile ceremony of this indulgent meal. Little Savouries include Local Smoked Salmon Pinwheels, Cork’s Bluebell Falls Goats Cheese on Honey and Oak Biscuits and retro Coronation Chicken. Move on to the dessert array with teeny homemade Scones with clotted cream and homemade preserves or the fancier Sea Salt Caramel Cupcakes and White Chocolate and Yuzu Domes, among others.
A collection of twelve top quality teas include classic Irish Breakfast and Earl Grey among a clutch of unusual fruit and herb teas. All served in lovely china. Add a glass of Prosecco as well if you want to splash out.
