Our Review of B’s Restaurant at Castle Hotel & Leisure Centre

You’d expect a boutique hotel like The Castle Hotel and Leisure Centre in Macroom, Co. Cork, to have a splendid restaurant offering. After all, this establishment is situated in a traditional market town in rural West Cork, where the neighbouring hills and pastures produce top quality meats, dairy produce and farmhouse cheeses. Not far away, the West Cork coastline merges into that of County Kerry, where the Atlantic Ocean provides a gleaming catch of the best fish and finest shellfish. You’d expect to find all these things on a menu that is eclectic in style and unwavering in quality and value for money. And you’d expect correctly, because that is what you will get whenever you dine here at B’s Restaurant.

B’s is open to the public and hotel residents on Thursdays to Saturday evenings. Executive Chef  Pat Ryan has gathered a formidable kitchen team, capable of great creative imagination and flair. Presentation of all the local produce you’ll find on this menu is exquisite. Service is knowledgeable, provided by proud staff only too happy to showcase the foods of the region. Enjoy it all in a ninety seater restaurant, which despite it’s generous size, has kept intimacy through a clever split level design and some tucked away areas for private dining options. Dark wood furnishings, exposed stone and moody  tones in decor, give this dining room a very cosy feel. You’ll want to settle in for the night!

Menus range from the evening A La Carte to extremely well priced private event set menus.  The wine list is complimentary to match great fish, well aged beef and other local meats. After dinner, retreat to the friendly atmosphere of Dan Buckley’s Bar in the hotel, where postprandial liqueurs and a full bar service can be enjoyed.
