Our Review of Aqua Restaurant Howth Dublin

If there were a prize for the most spectacular restaurant view in Dublin, Aqua Restaurant in Howth would take the title without challenge. Aqua is housed in the former yacht club-house of Howth since 2000, perched at the very end of the west pier in Dublin's lively fishing village. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the building, with one entire wall of windows allowing a magical view over the water and the neighbouring islands.

Any time of day here is a visual treat. On a stormy day, watch the rain and wind whipping up the waves. On the good days, sunset is a treat - casting a warm glow and a stunning kaleidoscope of colour over the dining room. The three proprietors of Aqua are all keen Dublin sailors. No wonder they chose this historic location for a restaurant venture. Aqua's contemporary dining room with a subtle nautical theme compliments this natural setting.  A relaxed elegant ambience can be enjoyed at lunch or dinner.  Skilled waiters are dapper in their dress and slick in their service.

The dining room has an open serving counter where you can see each tempting plate as it appears. Be amazed by the seafood platter. Drool over fresh cooked fish of the day and its accompaniments. It all comes out of the kitchen here and you get a bird's eye view if you sit close to the action. A relaxed elegant ambience can be enjoyed at lunch or dinner. Visitors and locals alike enjoy delicious Irish fish as fresh as it can be. Aqua prides itself on local food. The restaurant has its own kitchen garden for fresh herbs and vegetables, to accompany the daily deliveries of seafood. Seasonal Irish game also features. A good value set lunch menu means you can enjoy the best of Aqua as part of a two or three course deal.

Appropriately named, Aqua lives up to its reputation as one of the finest seafood restaurants in Ireland.  The service is charming and attentive, making it a wonderful place to eat in Dublin. The early bird and lunch offers give great value,  with 2 Course €25 or 3 Course €30 including tea/coffee, or 3 Courses Inclusive of Tea or Freshly Ground Coffee, with a bottle of house wine, at €79 for 2 people.

Please note that Aqua Restaurant is open on Mondays for the summer season.
