The Apple Farm

Home / Place / Apple Farm

The Apple Farm in Cahir, has a well stocked farm shop on site. This farm is famous for its prolific apple orchards, where owner and second generation apple grower Cornelius Traas has twelve varieties growing.  These he sells fresh and also uses for his  handmade and pressed apple juice produced on the farm. The shop is presented in rustic style, and sells a range of seasonal fresh farm produce plus the apple juices that have made this man famous. The  Karmine selection of juices lines the shelves  - single apple varities and those mixed with other fruits or vegetables like locally grown carrot.

In summer find Con's luscious outdoor grown strawberries   There’s also plump raspberries too, the juicy pink Scottish Glen Moy variety which originally came from wild fruit grown in native woodland. Plums come on stream in August, with the dark bluish purple Opal followed later by the well-known Victoria. In autumn,  you’ll grab a bag or two of the farm’s own pears, Conference, Concorde and Doyenne de Comice, to eat as they come or match with Ireland's delicious farmhouse cheeses. Con highlights seasonal fruit in the shop and on his website, so you can get an idea of what's good and best on your visit.
