Keogh's Farm Launch New Popcorn Range
Good Food Ireland awarded, Keogh's Farm, Co. Dublin have further developed their Irish snack offering with the introduction of their new popcorn range.
Not one to sit still, the 200 year old Keogh’s Farm, which produces premium crisps and potatoes, has announced that it is expanding its farm friendly Irish brand to include 3 varieties of premium popcorn from January. The move sees the Keogh Family’s continued success with the farm, having secured over 8pc of the Irish crisp market in 2018 and the announcement that Keogh’s crisps were chosen as the preferred crisp to be served globally on Emirates first class flights.
Keogh’s wholegrain popcorn goes on shelf in major Irish multiples including Supervalu, Dunnes Stores and Tesco in three flavours including Irish Honey & Sea Salt, Irish Atlantic Sea Salt and Sweet Chilli & Cherry Tomato. Their premium wholegrain popcorn ticks many of healthy boxes with it being high in fibre, gluten free, lactose free, non GMO, vegan and vegetarian friendly.
Small plots of corn have been planted and grown on the Keogh Family Farm, however, the family are also partnering with small family farms in Indiana to grow premium corn varieties which produce rounder crunchier popcorn to carry as much natural flavour as possible.
To accommodate our new launch, we have expanded our on-farm kitchens to include popping kettles for hand-popping corn. According to Tom Keogh “Popcorn is a natural progression for our business – It’s a great light filler for those looking for a snack on the go and we felt there was an opening for a more premium style product using natural flavours sourced from Ireland”.
Tom Keogh believes the business will see 100% growth in the next four to six years, however, they are not keen on changing to automated production processes, keeping true to their original hand cooked offering as well as the inclusion of Irish artisan ingredients.
Tom Keogh finishes by saying, “We certainly aren’t planning on getting ahead of ourselves yet, but innovation and diversification is the key to business success, so we won’t be sitting still any time soon – We have plenty in the pipeline for 2019.”
