St. Patrick's Day Parades Across the Country

St. Patrick's Day is a great day to get the family out and don those green hats, t-shirts and pieces of shamrock and proclaim your pride at being Irish. One aspect of the day that is very important is the local St. Patrick's Day Parade. 

Whether you are heading to Dublin or staying local, you can be guaranteed a great parade wherever you will be going. With local clubs, societies and street performers all getting in on the act, there is something for everyone to enjoy this St. Patrick's Day! 

We have compiled a list of start times and routes for the main city parades if you are feeling like making the journey to one of Ireland's cities. 

Make sure to bring along a coat, hat and scarf as being in Ireland we cannot guarantee the good weather! 

DUBLIN 

Undoubtedly the world's biggest St. Patrick's Day Parade, Dublin's parade is something to be witnessed at least once in your life. The theme of this year's parade is, "Ireland You Are..." . The parade will feature Irish Street Theatre and Street Performers from all over the world. Starting at 12.00pm the parade route will cover from Parnell Square, down O'Connell Street and finish at St. Patrick's Cathedral. 

CORK 

If you are heading to the heart of the rebel county for St. Patrick's Day, the parade will be starting at 1.00pm from the Mall on Grand Parade, along St. Patrick's Street with the finish just at Merchant's Quay. Make sure to get there early to get a good viewing spot! 

GALWAY

The city of the tribes will be holding their own unique take on the St. Patrick's Day Parade, starting at 11.30 am. The parade will travel through the heart of the city and will feature local community groups, street performers and GAA Clubs. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Galway over the weekend. 

BELFAST 

Belfast city centre will be hosting a carnival themed St. Patrick's Day Parade. Starting at 12.00 pm, the parade will be starting at Belfast City Hall with its grand finale taking place at Custom House Square.  

WATERFORD 

Ireland's oldest city, Waterford will be holding its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade at 1.00 pm along the quay and the mall by the waterside. Expect street performers, music and much more! 

LIMERICK 

Limerick city's annual St. Patrick's parade this year is all about the theme of "Old Stories", so expect some great performances and tales from participants. Beginning at 12.00 pm, the parade will move its way down the centre of the city at O'Connell's Street. 

KILKENNY 

For those based in the south east of Ireland, Kilkenny's Parade never disappoints. With a mix of local communities, music and street performers you will get the whole St. Patrick's Day experience! Starting at 1.00 pm, the parade runs from St. John's Church (Dublin Road) and ends at Market Yard via the High Street.
