This Little Piggy …..


Pigs are sociable animals! Free range pigs are even more sociable – and happy. Why wouldn’t they be? .They get the finest of living – roaming and birthing outdoors in the natural way. Rooting and nibbling on whatever they find in the fields – herbs, berries and wild grasses are a pig’s equivalent of chocolate! Supplement these treats with a healthy diet of cereals, plenty of fresh air,  and you have one very contented and well fed porker.  As meat eaters, we have a duty to make sure the meat we eat is reared in the best possible way. Good animal husbandry methods are essential to good taste in the end product. Plus we can be certain that the animal which supplied the food on our plates has had a very comfortable life beforehand. That’s why free range pig producers produce pork that tastes like it used to taste – back in the days when every smallholding add it’s own pig in the field. All this lovely free range pork means great tasting  sausages and rashers for the best Full Irish Breakfast in the land, hams for the ultimate sandwich, and of course pork  joints with rind that crisps up like a dream. Can’t you just imagine that flavourful roast with it’s gorgeous crackling, crunching between your teeth…
