Good Food Ireland Chefs Fight the Flab at Christmas

Are you one of the many who expect to gain weight this Christmas? Chefs Derry Clarke and Darina Allen give their top tips for keeping the pounds away during the festivities. It’s  all about including lower fat foods in the repertoire, while still enjoying a bit of indulgence! Fish, vegetables and seasonal  salads are healthy and won’t leave you feeling outdone in the taste stakes, so our  top cooking crew recommend. Everything in moderation. so they say!  Also, try replacing cream with natural yogurt like Glenilen which is rich in flavour but lower in calories. Make your turkey stuffing from fruit instead of sausage meat for lighter version. Replace cocktail sausages with roasted vegetable game chips made from wafer thin slices of parsnip and beetroot. Just as tasty. Take excercise in the form of a long walk after Christmas Dinner so those pounds don’t settle on the waistline so easily. A little extra thought in food and lifestyle terms this Christmas could prevent the battle of the bulge come January!
