The Breeders’ Cup in LA
GFI Press Release - Showcasing Irish Cuisine at The Breeders’ Cup
Thu 18th Oct 2012

Good Food Ireland has been invited by Irish Thoroughbred Marketing to represent Ireland at the Breeders’ Cup World Horse Racing Championships “Taste of the World” VIP Party in Santa Anita Park, Los Angeles on November 2nd 2012.  Taste of the World’s invited guests will include some 700 horse owners and breeders who consist of the most prominent individuals from the international business and entertainment worlds.  This is the second year that Good Food Ireland will represent Ireland at this prestigious event.

Good Food Ireland will call upon chefs from its network of businesses and ship the ingredients for the dish to the US including Marine Harvest’s Clare Ireland Salmon. Ed Cooney Executive Chef, The Merrion Hotel, Dublin together with Maurice Keller, Good Food Ireland Ambassador Chef will cook Kerrygold Butter Seared Fillet of Clare Island Salmon with Champ Mousseline, King Scallops and Dillisk Bisque Cream. Irish Soda Bread will also be baked and served with Burren Smoked Irish Salmon, Kerrygold Butter and Kerrygold Cashel Blue Cheese.

“I am honoured that Irish Thoroughbred Marketing has chosen Good Food Ireland to represent Ireland at this world renowned event. It provides us with a valuable opportunity to highlight the Good Food Ireland Experience and our network of some 600 businesses” says Margaret Jeffares, Managing Director, Good Food Ireland.

“The Breeders Cup is a weekend of world class racing with competitors from many of the world’s leading racing nations. As a breeding nation Ireland has provided more Breeders Cup winners than any other non-USA competing nation and as a result this weekend represents a fantastic opportunity for ITM to promote Irish bloodstock to a global audience. Our partnership with Good Food Ireland provides great synergies and we look forward to working with them to showcase two of Ireland’s great reputations, good food and good horses” says Daithí Harvey, Marketing Executive, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.

Taste of the World was established by well-known US Food Network TV Chef and horse racing owner Bobby Flay.  The 16 countries that have won The Breeders Cup including Australia, USA, South Africa, Japan, France, Germany and UK will participate.  Coverage of this VIP Party will be shown to millions of people when it is featured during NBC Sports Broadcast to US and international audiences.  Good Food Ireland will also be included in the Winners’ Circle Ceremony on Saturday, November 3rd.
