Irish food will be showcased in Los Angeles at the Breeders’ Cup World Horse Racing Championships next month at a “Taste of the World” VIP party.
Good Food Ireland, which promotes Irish hospitality and food production, is planning the menu for the 700 guests, who will include horse owners, breeders and figures from the business and entertainment worlds.
The guests will be invited to feast upon Kerrygold butter-seared fillet of Clare Island salmon, champ mousseline, king scallops and dilisk bisque cream. Irish soda bread will be served with Burren-smoked Irish salmon and Kerrygold Cashel Blue cheese.
Chefs in the kitchen will include Ed Cooney, the Merrion Hotel’s executive chef and Maurice Keller, Good Food Ireland ambassador chef.
The “Taste of the World” party was established by US Food Network TV chef and race horse owner Bobby Flay. The 16 countries which have won the Breeders Cup are invited to take part and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing asked Good Food Ireland to co-ordinate the Irish menu.
Other participants include Australia, the US, South Africa, Japan, France, Germany and the UK. Coverage of the party will be featured by the NBC during its broadcasting of the championships.
