O'Connor's Seafood Restaurant << Back
The Square, Bantry, Co Cork
Seafood restaurant and bar

You can’t miss O’Connor’s in the heart
of Bantry - Peter O’Brien and his wife
Anne (great grand-daughter of the original
owner) have completely renovated the restaurant
in the past year, and the shop front
features three striking sailboats. Inside
has a sleek, modern finish that retains its
comfortable booths. As owner/operators,
the O’Briens have really made their mark
on Bantry dining, with their attention to
detail showing on everything from the
food, wine and service down to the décor
and even the choice of music. As you would
expect from the port location, the menu
caters well for seafood lovers. But if you
start with the house speciality mussels, or
choose to share oysters from their seawater
tank, you can then try Skeaghanore duck
breast on creamed potato with ginger
and orange sauce and finish with warm
toffee and apple cake. Lunch includes hot
open sandwiches and O’Connor’s seafood
chowder. All breads and stocks are made
daily on the premises. The global wine list
is affordable and offers interesting choices
by the glass. Nearby is the Sheep’s Head
walking route to its south, Garnish Island
to its north, and, in the picturesque setting
of Bantry House, the West Cork Chamber
Music Festival and the traditional music
festival, Masters of Tradition.
