Good Food Ireland brings a flavour of Waterford to the Capital. Supreme quality food producers were flying the flag at the showcase launch of Ireland's first quality food product marketing group, Good Food Ireland held in The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin.

The showcase brought together Good Food Ireland members, including restaurants, hotels, country houses, food shops and producers who presented signature quality dishes for guests to sample. The event also created an opportunity for Good Food Ireland members to discuss best food practices, high standards and beliefs, and forge stronger links between quality businesses and local food producers. Supreme quality food outlet Arlington Lodge Country House Hotel was flying the flag for Waterford-at the showcase launch of Ireland's first quality food product marketing group, Good Food Ireland held in The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. The event also marked the official launch of the Good Food Ireland web- site and print material. Margaret Jeffares, Managing Director of Good Food Ireland said; "There has been a groundswell of interest from good food operators around the country who wish to be recognised and endorsed above others for their commitment to providing quality food using the best of local Irish produce. Good Food Ireland is an industry-driven organisation that markets members who fit set regulated criteria to the domestic and international tourist. "Good Food Ireland strives to uphold and promote domestic producers to the exclusion of others and the deadline for steady progression towards total compliance for our members is set for 2015. With the strong support already shown by members, we are confident of attaining this goal much sooner." While various bodies exist to promote individual aspects of the Irish food industry, Good Food Ireland was established in November 2006 to integrate and market top-quality Irish food providers from the production, retailing and catering sectors, while promoting them to tourists and domestic consumers who demand and expect the best.

" The emergence of Good Food Ireland corresponds with the growing interest in good local food in global tourism. Despite being an internationally recognised producer of quality food, Ireland has not yet established a reputation for interesting and consistently good cuisine and food service. Since 2002 there has been a marked decline in satisfaction amongst overseas holidaymakers with the quality of food in serviced accommodation and formal restaurants. Good Food Ireland's membership follows set regulated criteria - with particular emphasis on Irish beef. Membership categories include a wide cross-section of establishments from restaurants, accommodation, pubs, cafes, cookery schools, food shops, food producers & micro-breweries.
