Farmgate Country Store & Restaurant

Broderick Street, Midleton, Co Cork.

If there’s one thing Farmgate’s owner Máróg O’Brien possesses in abundance, it’s a passion for great food. As far back as twenty-odd years ago, when her lively café/restaurant first opened, she was leading the way in sourcing quality Irish produce and masterminding simple cooking techniques, to create this legendary gem of a place to eat. The town’s now famous gourmet reputation was no doubt helped along by her presence on the food scene. She’s still influencing, all these years later.

Food Store (The)

Ballyhaunis Road, Claremorris, Co Mayo.

Niall Heffernan's food store is, in fact, a combination of three separate groups under one roof. First of all, there is fresh meat, all locally sourced and the ready-to-cook dishes using the meats are available, then the Deli Counter and finally the Bakery. The range of foods is astonishing, with a total of some 200 products available, everything is beautifully displayed on the various counters.

Foods of Athenry (The)

Oldcastle, Kilconieron, Athenry, Co Galway.

Foods of Athenry had a very unfortunate fire last week 29th June 2011 and are out of production for a couple of weeks. They pass on their thanks to everyone who sent them good wishes and have been so helpful. We will keep you posted! Set among the famous rolling fields of Athenry, the Lawless family farmhouse bakery prides itself on producing healthy baked goods, made with pure and natural local ingredients, love, care and absolutely no additives in sight. They grow much of the fruit, like apples and rhubarb, for Siobhan’s pies and tarts and her vision to supply this range at an affordable price in the mainstream market is paying off, with many stockists in Galway city and county.
