In November 2006 Margaret Jeffares launched a food and tourism strategy for the island of Ireland under the brand – Good Food Ireland. It is a one-stop shop for everyone who simply loves good local food.
Good Food Ireland is a unique brand for all island food and tourism, marketing the island’s hospitality and food sector under the one umbrella network – promoting members that are committed to using local food produce and working with farmers, fishermen and food producers.
Marketing efforts are in collaboration with Fáilte Ireland, NITB, Bord Bia and Tourism Ireland strategies to ensure we reach our potential target audience.
Good Food Ireland is about standards and has strict brand criteria. Members are independently assessed to ensure that they meet these standards. As an industry organisation where members work on a voluntary basis to promote each other there is a pride and standard that must be maintained by each of them.
Our Customers We target visitors and indeed Irish people who want to holiday in Ireland and have a quality Irish food experience. They may want to sightsee or stay in a Spa Destination or go Golfing but want a quality food experience with everything they do while on holiday. They want to stay in a 5 star Hotel, a Country House or a Farmhouse, B&B but first and foremost you want good lood. These are our customers. Our membership offers the best of local Irish food and you can choose to stay, eat, cook and shop in a whole cross-section of places committed to this experience.

What we do for our Members Good Food Ireland promotes its members through the umbrella brand Good Food Ireland to domestic and international tourists. It offers members cost effective platforms to do business and provides them with operating protocol for business referral, education and information within its all island network. The voluntary commitment from members to grow the network is a win win for doing business.
Organisation Structure Operates as a marketing organisation driven by the members where they work on a voluntary basis to promote each other and drive the organisation in all their marketing efforts. The voluntary Steering Group with Chairman formulates the strategy. Regional Committees drive the organisation within local communities. Member representatives from a fair cross-section of sectors and geographic spread make up the committees and all are committed to working on a voluntary basis.
Member-get-Member Scheme – Members nominate others to become members.
Intensive Marketing Plan for members providing them with opportunity to fully participate – trade and consumer shows, events, food showcases, direct marketing, e-marketing, media visits and familiarisation trips. Good Food Ireland has a framework to do business that can penetrate the local community to the national through to the global international market.
