Dungarvan Brewing Company
Cormac O’Dwyer and Tom Dalton founded the Dungarvan Brewing Company with their wives in spring 2010, to enormous acclaim from real ale fans and drink experts alike. Cormac is Head Brewer whilst Tom looks after Sales and Distribution of the range of three handcrafted bottled beers.
Cormac firmly believes in choosing the best of ingredients, combined with time and patience, to create his acclaimed brews. All production, maturation and bottling takes place on site in Dungarvan so he oversees it every step of the way. The range is named after places in the area – keeping the local touch very much to the forefront of the product. For light ale/lager lovers, Helvick Blonde is made with aromatic hops which add a refreshing note. Perfect as a drink on its own but also with spicy foods like curry. Copper Coast is an Irish red ale – gutsy and hearty with crystal malt as its base, which lends rich caramel character to the taste. The brewer recommends this as an accompaniment to meat and game dishes, as well as a gentle and characterful ale for drinking on its own. Black Rock is a traditional Irish stout - smooth and dark with a creamy white head. Roast barley makes this an intense sip – with notes of spicy vanilla and aniseed too. A stout lover’s dream – great with a plate of local oysters or a crab sandwich – or just as it comes!
All these beers are bottle-conditioned, which means natural carbonation takes place within the bottle, leaving no need to add gas to the end product. Beers are also unfiltered and unpasteurised for a really natural taste and appearance. All brews are vegan friendly.
Thanks to Tom’s wonderful skills in marketing, you can find the Dungarvan Brewing Company range in a number of establishments in the immediate locality, including Good Food Ireland members
The Tannery. These beers are also in Demand Cork and Dublin, as well as Tipperaray and Wexford. The word about the Dungarvan Brewing Company is spreading fast – and rightly so. The quality leaves many others standing – these are serious artisan products to be enjoyed by those who love their beers handcrafted and brewed to the highest standards.
