The Taylor family have been farming on the land at Glastry Farm in Kircubbin, Newtownards, Co Down since 1856. They have a pedigree herd of dairy cattle which produces all the milk and cream for their wonderful product. This production is a real family affair, with the parents at the helm of production, a son looking after the dairy herd, and a daughter minding the accounts. That’s why the ice cream has that special ‘cared for’ taste which only comes from personal commitment and dedication to the end product. It has won many awards already since commencement of production in 2007. Glastry Farm Ice Cream has a ‘Safe and Local Supply Accreditation’ and the production facilities on the farm have a five star environmental health rating. It’s all good for the consumer who gets to buy a true home produced and home made treat with the taste real ice cream should have.
So what about those whacky flavours? There’s heavenly Yellowman Honeycomb, with real honey in it, Strawberry Blonde, fresh and fruity for a hint of summer, Chocolate Heaven, which is just that, and no one can resist it, Vanilla Bean a straight forward a tub flavoured with the finest vanilla, and zingy Rhubarb and Ginger, which leaves you feeling refreshed afterwards .Rhubarb and Custard - is a new flavour which was launched for 2010! All come in 500ml retail tubs and two or five litre catering tubs. Chefs love them you see. And so will you.
If you want to celebrate with ice cream, a Glastry Farm Ice Cream cake is the way to go! You can have it made in any flavour, and with decoration for any occasion. Choose a cool Christmas Cake or a barmy Birthday Cake and whatever else in between. A great idea for a wedding, we think! Ice creams stocked in selected Supervalu, Centra and Mace Stores, farm shops in Northern Ireland across to Donegal and National Trust shops and Donnybrook Fair in Dublin. And in 2010 they received a Bridgestone Award for their product range.
Look out for them – you’ll be glad you did!
Tours and Groups can be can organised by prior arrangement.
