Chocolatier Ireland - Artisan chocolate makers

If  Wilde suggests a bit of decadence, then it’s exactly the right name for the chocolate that Patricia Farrell makes, not far from the shores of Lough Derg, in Co Clare. But other words that can be used to describe just how delicious these are might include scrumptious and luscious. And winning Great Taste Gold in 2007, Bridgestone Best in Ireland recommendations and Industry Awards is the definite ‘proof of the pudding’.
 
Chocolate is probably the one food that’s practically irresistible. Even the exotic names of the Wilde products are a temptation – Hazelnut Duet, Mocha Mocha, Truffle Temptation. Wilde is the only Irish maker of Organic Fairtrade chocolate, certified by the Organic Trust. There’s also a range of conventional and sugar free hand-decorated products. All the chocolates are handmade by the ‘Wilde Team’ in a small artisan outlet in Tuamgraney. Take a spin out to the small village of Tuamgraney on East Clare’s stunning Lough Derg Drive to see where Wilde Irish Chocolates make all the wonderful confections. Here you can feast your eyes and your tastebuds and experience the aromas at first hand, hear the clanking and noise in the background, and taste the latest products in development.
 
When Patricia and Con Farrell opened the factory in 1997, they had the aim of producing great chocolate. Success followed with the awarding of five Great Taste awards in five years. They are most proud of last year’s Gold Medal as it was for their Fairtrade Organic Latte and Cinnamon bar. They handmake a range of 20 different chocolate bars from White Choc through to Super Dark 80% cocoa solids, including  organic fairtrade and sugar free bars too. And if you like fudge then Wilde’s have 18 varieties from Triple Choc Chip and White Choc Mint to Super Dark Choc Chilli for you to taste. That’s not the end of it though; they also make chocolate slices such as Rocky Road, Tiffin, Raspberry Caramel and many more.
 

You can also visit them at their Chocolate Shop in Doolin, North Clare or their stalls at the Killaloe Farmers Market on Sundays, Limerick City’s famous Milk Market on Saturdays and the University of Limerick Farmers Market on Tuesdays. They are also now available in Dublin from their stall at Marlay Park Farmers Market on Saturdays and Sundays and also at the Mespil Village Market on Thursdays on Mespil Road, Dublin.
